Last Weekend I Was

...sophisticated.

So, by now you know I enjoy an Afternoon Tea. So what better way to spend a lazy (hungover) Sunday than in a cosy boutique hotel in Mayfair, London nibbling finger sandwiches and scones? My friend and I went to The Leonard Hotel for Afternoon Tea for Two (no champagne this time) and a selection of  sandwiches, scones and pastries. The walls are littered with odd, mismatched portraits set in random frames with comfy old armchairs and toasty fires. Cute!

You would be forgiven for thinking you were in a country manor house rather than in the middle of stylish Mayfair in the capital which was a refreshing change. We ate leisurely over a couple of hours, sipping English Breakfast Tea and sampling the crustless smoked salmon, ham and mustard and cucumber sandwiches, warm scones with jam and clotted cream and miniature pastries.

The quality of the food was as high as expected but I must say I prefer the more modern hotel decor I've experience during my previous Afternoon Teas (I'm so cultured). Good for an out-of-the-way, forgetting the world, home away from home catch up with an old friend.
