Random International have brought their new emersive art installation to the Barbican Centre. Designed to challenge and test our instincts and intuitions, Rain Room is, well, a room of rain. The experience gives you the chance to feel in control of the weather with the power to control the rain. The project requires a great deal of trust as it goes against all our natural instincts to walk blindly into a torrential downpour. The outcome: walk through the rain without getting wet.
Rain Room by Random International, Barbican
Whilst the queue can stack up to a mammoth 2 hours long, the experience is truly unique. The trick is to patiently move through the rain at a slow pace in order to avoid actually getting wet. One lady who failed to fight her instincts ran through the rain and got drenched - the mechanism reacts to our presence and stops the rain wherever we stand providing you move slowly enough for it to catch you.
Well worth a visit if you can stomach the wait.
